I hit the outlets mall yesterday and it was quite as busy. Would've taken pics if it hadn't gone dark at 5pm already! Will have to take pics of the goods purchased though.
No, we don't have the facilities to scan barcodes while shopping. They are just like normal tills, but you have to do your own scanning and paying. Everything you scan goes in a bag that sits over a weighing scale, so the machine knows if what you place in the bag matches what you scan.

Supermarkets here are almost all closed by 5 PM on Sundays, which means that you can always do the Sunday shop when it's light :-)
When in London, we had our 'local' Tesco in the last years, after it replaced another supermarket. Just in front of a Mark & Spencer, by the way...

What does "self service" mean in this context? Is that a cash register for folks who have been scanning price barcodes themselves while shopping?
