Thames transport

I took this photo of a commuter boat approaching Greenwich Pier just before 9 PM today. You can see the Doclands in the distance, as well as the domed exit of the Greenwich foot tunnel.

The tide was out at the time, exposing the Thames foreshore, the closest thing we've got to a city beach.

Beautiful image: a great light and an unusual sight. I like the strange effect of the low tide.

Glad you like it! I love photos that capture the moment, and this was very much "a moment". I was on my way to meeting friends, the light was beautiful, the tide was out, the boat arrived at the pier just then... and I had a little camera in my handbag :-)

If this isn't commuting in style, I don't know what is.

Haha! Those who set the fares on these boats obviously thought the same ;-)
