Venetian beauty

I love taking pictures of dolls in shop windows. I snapped this one in Venice, Italy, at a shop near the Rialto bridge.

Pretty picture. But...I don't like dolls, they kind of scare me! Preferred soft toys :)

@ Vogon Poet: Me too. Shame the light wasn't so good for this one. I shot it without flash and it's turned out too yellow for my liking, but I don't know how to fix it.

@ Shanny: Oh no! How can a doll be scary? I grew up surrounded by dolls and had no soft toys (except as a baby) so I guess I'm used to them.

I'm even more fond of the embroidered tablecloths around her. Especially the one with the little daisies.

I'll keep that in mind for the next time I see a tablecloth embroidered with daisies ;-)

@ Tinsie - I don't know your camera, have seen anything there like 'auto white balancing'? If you have Photoshop this would be a very easy correction with autocolor.

A ha! Now I know what the AWB is for, and how to use it :-)

I think I ought to read my camera's manual sometime. Ahem.

Also need to get Photoshop.

Tinsie, there is a free alternative to Photoshop, an open source program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program): http://www.gimp.org/

I'll check it out! Thanks :-)
