This summer has been unusually warm and dry. The effect can be seen all over our parks and open spaces which have turned a crisp yellow instead of their usual bright green. I took this photo just before a summer storm last week (our first in a long time), literally minutes before the skies opened. It reminded me of the opening scene from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

A great title for a great image!
You are right, an ominous sky for a great picture!
Like a huge floor of some sort.
Thanks guys, glad you like it :-)
@ Per: You mean like a wooden floor?
...or a slightly worn carpet...
:)
Yes, either would work ;-)
I haven't seen the Potter movie, but this shot reminds me a lot of our area in mid-winter after a couple of freezes.
On the other hand, if it doesn't freeze or freezes just one day (which is normal), everything stays green all winter.
I really like this photo!
Thank you - I must admit it's one of my favourite from last summer. It's very unusual for our fields to be anything but green - at any time of year.
